Due to Byrds collector Whin Oppice's generosity, Byrds Flyght is proud to offer its visitors the chance to listen to a track recorded live in October 1965 by the original 5 man lineup of The Byrds (Jim McGuinn, Gene Clark, David Crosby, Michael Clarke and Chris Hillman).

Chris Ethridge, a founding member of The Flying Burrito Brothers, has died.
Chris Ethridge left the FBBs after the group recorded its first
album, "The Gilded Palace of Sin”, in 1969.
He eventually returned to
work as a studio and touring musician, playing with The Doors, Linda Ronstadt, Ry Cooder,
Randy Newman, Jackson Browne, Arlo Guthrie, and many others.
He also participated in the revival of the Flying Burrito Brothers in 1975, playing bass on one of the two LPs they released in the mid-seventies (Flying Again).
He also played on ex-Byrds and ex-Flying Burrito Brothers members' solo albums (Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark, Dillard & Clark, David Crosby, The International Submarine Band...).
He co-wrote three of Gram Parsons' best songs: "Hot Burrito #1", "Hot Burrito #2" and "She".
He was also a member of the L.A. Getaway among many others.
His last contribution to The Flying Burrito Brothers was some vocals on the "Eye Of The Hurricane" CD from 1994.

In
tribute to the late, great Levon Helm, here's a rush-released track
from the forthcoming album Jeff Slate - Birds of Paradox. The track was
written by Jeff with The Band as an inspiration and was being mixed (by
Dennis Ferrante) as news broke that Levon's health had taken a turn for
the worst.
The core band includes Jeff Slate (vocals, guitar),
Jimmy McElligott (guitar), Gary Van Scyoc (bass), Adam Ippolito (piano,
Hammond) and Steve Holley (drums). The track also includes guest
appearances by Eric Lichter (backing vocals), Gene Parsons (backing
vocals, steel guitar), Paolo Provenzano (percussion) and a horn section
from Wayne Cobham and friends.
Just released : a Various Artists compilation CD with 21 versions of "Mr Tambourine Man".
There are, among others, versions by "The Byrds With Bob Dylan", "The Byrds (new recording)", "Roger McGuinn (electric guitar)", "Roger McGuinn (acoustic guitar)", "Chris Hillmann" (sic) and "Gene Clark".
I have more than serious doubts about the legality of such a release.
